Yoshitaka Amano, official illustrator for Final Fantasy VII, drew a number of pieces featuring Cloud and Aeris. Yet interestingly, he drew none with Cloud and Tifa together – in fact, only one single piece of Tifa exists. This could be because Tifa was a later addition to the game, and Amano was commissioned to create promotional artwork before she existed. Or, perhaps, Cloud and Aeris’s relationship was just considered to be the game’s headlining romance.

This artwork has been featured on various merchandise and art books. In particular, the colorful image of Cloud and Aeris sitting together side-by-side has been used on a number of official Square Enix products.
