Ota City of Gunma Prefecture, Japan, Will Open “Aeris’s Little Forest” Garden on June 5

Ota City in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, has just announced the new name of a renovated English-style garden: エアリスの小さな森公園, or “Aerith’s Little Forest.”

Named of course after our Aeris Gainsborough of Final Fantasy VII, this park will open on June 5 for visitors. Nearly 14,000 square meters large, it features a “garden” area with hundreds of types of flowers, and a “nature” area with trees and a pond. Learn more about the garden, opening hours, and location on the official Ota City website here.

The legacy of Aeris is truly something! This sounds like something that she would consider the greatest honor ever.

It isn’t the first time that Japan has recognized her. A white tiger couple in Gunma Safari Park are named “Cloud” (male) and “Aerith” (female). The pair gave birth to several cubs in 2015.
